Cresson Lake Publishes Historical Reflections

Cresson Lake Playhouse has assembled a book of historical reflections that represent the past 30 years of history at the theatre.

This collection aims to recognize the men, women, and children who have continued to create and bring the magic of live theatre to the "Historic Theatre" at Cresson Lake for more than 30 years. The range of this book does not allow the inclusion of every theatrical event of importance. The intention has been to lay a foundation upon which to build in the future, rather than to attempt an extensive treatment of every past production.

We gratefully acknowledge Mr. Herman Nagle, who painstakingly researched and compiled the history to include the names of the actors and directors from each of the 157 productions spanning the 30 year history of the Playhouse.

Mrs. Eleanor Lantzy graciously wrote the forward for the book explaining the many challenges they faced getting the theatre started. It was her vision to showcase area talent by providing the experience of performing for vocational and avocational actors and to provide quality musicals and drama for audiences to enjoy. The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts called Cresson Lake Playhouse "The Little Theatre That Could." Mrs. Lantzy also states the longevity of the playhouse indicates that it is still fulfilling the mission for which it was founded.

The book is dedicated to all the men, women, and children who have kept the theatre alive and growing for more than 30 years.

Copies of the book can be purchased for $20 and can be ordered by calling (814)472-4333.
